Car Snatchers - The very first Piece of Action we shot...

This is actually the very first digital storyboard I have directed for an action sequence about 4 years ago.

Digital Storyboards are used mostly for action scenes of high value film productions. The action director gathers his team and films the action scene the way he imagines it. This is done at a very low or no cost at all. It is just to display the director and the producers of the film what the action sequence at a certain point in the film might look like.

If they like the result of the digital storyboard, then it is re-shot with high quality production values using the actual actors of the film, 16 or 35mm cameras, lighting etc.

If they don't like it the scene usually ends up in the archive of its director.

The scene you see here was shot in 6 hours and with a usual MiniDV camcorder. It would take far longer when done professionally due to various reasons. For example would you need to setup the lighting over and over again with every new angle you are shooting from. Of course we wouldn't face such problems when shooting the basic digital material.

Unfortunately, this very first action scene I directed was not re-shot professionally in the finished film, because the producers thought it was too unrealistic.

But I kept the digital material as a remembrance.

I hope though it's good enough for you guys to enjoy it! =)
