Well
I guess it has been a while since I blogged, wow, last August. Thanks for pointing that out.
Well much has happened. I guess I should be blogging more. Alive Not Dead coming to Beijing(about time) inspired me to start up my rants again.
I will do more detailed updates, but for now how about an over view.
well, 2008 was crazy, My buddy Telly Liu and I opened a bar in Beijing.
It was groovy,
We did our thing and then we moved on.
However we had some super cool guests and great times, Tsui Hark came in alot and we all had many long table talks with the guru about film making, and making action movies, and the trials and tribulations of filming in the ever changing market of China and America. We even named a drink after him!
Ritchie Ren Came in for some visits after concerts that was great.
also Cui Jian stopped in a few times.
Ray Liu was in once which was a great event,
and of course Danny Chan mister Bruce Lee himself ,
oh thats Elliot and Dave standing in for all the big stars We had a dream that was Aeon a place for the film industry.
However it was a great quiet place to write, and I got lots of stories done, so maybe it will prove to have advanced my film plans after all.
to sit back have a drink and just relax.
and it was actually successful, however we moved on. So closing the books on a happy note I focus my lens again, Like a Laser! --> ON WHERE THE ACTION IS
Running a bar however much fun, is not something I suggest if you want a full film career, but I would love to go back and do one again some day,
learned alot and made some great friends.
in between all of that. Loads happened
I was brought onto a talk show honoring Tony Ching Siu Dong, one of the worlds number one action directors, a friend from CCTV noted that I often write about asian cinema in Impact Magazine so they had me on the show, and at one point I was actually on stage interviewing Tony! then he turned the tables and interviewed me, wow Suddenly nervous I spilled my entire resume onto national tv, great fun, then he offered me a job on national TV.
unbelvable!! I was even more shocked when they aired it in that form and then a month later he called me up himself to act in Future X cop Directed By Wong Jing and starring Andy Lau, Fan Bing Bing, Da S, and the incredible action hero (this time villain) Fan Siu Wong I made this pic on photoshop after I did the film,
I was so happy to be able to have such a wonderful experience, and I want to thank Tony CHing Siu Dong for giving me such an opportunity right here on AND!!!
in the film I played Kafka the Cyborg Mantis assassin I had an awesome fight scene with Andy Lau himself, who I have to say is simply amazing. This man never ceases to amaze! I had met him at the Warlords Premier and was amazed at what a great and down to earth guy he was, working with him just multiplied that.
Let me tell you, this Guy can move. You wouldn't think that a singer and teen idol was so able at screen fighting but I am a little embarrassed to say I was shocked at how great he does. 30 years of film making in hong kong I guess gives you a certain level of Kung Fu, and by that I mean Excellence!
Such a nice man Thank again fr your patience Hua Ge!!!!
After Future Cop I thought I had hit the top, it couldn't get any better than that,
I had some down time and I needed it, after being dropped off of just about everything that was of some height on the stage my body needed a rest.
Many of you may know that after finishing and leaving a film you feel like you have left your family, that was exactly how I felt.
Another great time was coming though,
In march I got another call from Tony Ching Siu Dong, He had another film this time it was called Ci Ling (Treasure Hunter) to be directed by Zhu Yan Ping Starring Jay Chow, Lin Zhi Lin, Eric Cheng, Huang Yi Fei Chen Dao Ming and a host of other great stars.
Ok let me tell you, My dream was to come over here and work on action movies with the bg guys, I get that opportunity from time to time, but the feeling you get when you get called back is incomparable. Another chance to do what I do. I've been here ten years and that is still the best feeling!.
I'm going to not post any pics from this shoot as we are still filming, look for pics as they get authorized, but here are two that are oki doki , if anyone asks, these are from some other movie like ten years ago ;-) I got a slight tan standing in the desert
This time I was Fighting Jay Chow, another wonderful hard working man in the industry.
This guy has a dedication to perfection, I really respect him for that, he is not a martial artist by trade but no matter how hard it is he keeps going until it is perfect!! I really respect actors who play against suit and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. A super talented composer, singer, and actor, and again such a wonderful guy.
Again in this film I got beaten hard, every chance to get smashed or dropped I was there, this one I got my shiny head ripped open, but no worries just a scratch.
Working with Tony Ching Siu Dong is awesome and you learn so much, because you are constantly working, and he is making sure he is getting 200% from you, and it is such a great thing working with the team, Captaining the team was Peter (San Miguel) Wong as main choreographer- some of you may remember him as the animal stylist from the vandamme movie, "The Quest" also helping him choreograph was O Cheng Wei, of the Sichuan Wushu team-
Now I know why after a Ching Siu Dong Movie we are like family, and Tony Ching Siu Dong is our father ;-) hmmm
Look for more detailed articles about these two films in Impact Magazine in coming Months
------------Yes Mike I know
2008 and now 2009 was a time of ups and downs.
This industry we are all here carving our way through, but we are entertainers, we are here to bring happy smiles to the people around us.
