On Wednesday I caught “dead was the body till I taught it how to move”, a one-man show (yes, again!) that incorporated b-boying to tell the story of how @thisisnahdominic used the dance form, as well as a pilgrimage to the Bronx where b-boy first began, to cope with his relationship with his late father. It was directed by @adeebfazah and produced by @bhumicollective. . As a friend watching the show I thought it was a very brave attempt to perform something so close to your heart. I think to deliberately put yourself in such a vulnerable position as an actor is something extremely difficult- you’re basically fighting your inner demons on stage in full view of everyone and the fight can literally go either way. I saw/heard about people bursting into tears while watching the show, and the same thing happened to me. . I remember at some point in the show my brain went completely off topic and I remember thinking how fathers can be pretty shit sometimes so the only Father i’ll ever need is the one above. I think the strength of this show lay in its ability to invoke reactions like that from the audience. I don’t know if this show was meant to be a closure of sorts but I hope you know we’re all rooting for you, Dom. :) . ?: Bhumi Collective & Adeeb Fazah
