** oh damn, i was editing the blog and it got re-posted. sorry **
i'm a strong believer that females are better artist than males because they are more emotionally complex. to me guys are just too simple(minded).
this blog is my appreciation for female vocalists.
for me, a true test of a great singer is someone who can pull it off live. especially an acoustic version of the song, where everything is stripped down, so the vocals are accentuated. there are some singers that i am a big fan of, but have disappointed me when i heard them live. for example, Beth Gibbons from Portishead and Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. they sound great on CD, but live? pretty nasty.
there is nothing more sexier in this world than a woman who can sing. i would like to introduce you to 3 sexy ladies who i have been in love with for many many years.
first is Ann Wilsonfrom Heart. she is on the left and on the right is Nancy, her sister.
check out this video of a live acoustic version of 'Alone'. i cried when i first saw this. i'm not joking, i really did.
if you like what you heard you should checkout their 'the Road Home' album. it's a live acoustic concert where they sing all their hits. it will blow your pants off.
my second lover is Johnette Napolitanofrom the now defunct L.A band Concrete Blonde.
you might know the band for their hit single 'Joey'.
there is no video for the live acoustic version of 'Joey' that i want to share, so i put some text over the song and uploaded it to YouTube. Johnette's voice is so amazing. you can feel the pain through her voice. and let me reiterate that this is live.
last but not least is the oh so cool Margot Timmins from Cowboy Junkies.
you might know them from their great cover (Levity - this is a rare example where the cover is better than the original) of 'Sweet Jane'.
here is a clip of her singing 'Misguided Angel' live. her deep voice is so distinct. check out how she rests her hands on top of each other. so sexy
also, you should check out their version of 'Blue Moon' (actual title 'Blue Moon Revisited- a Song for Elvis') from 'the Trinity Session' album. 'Sweet Jane' is also on here.
when i heard 'Blue Moon' in high school, i made up my mind that this would be the song that i would propose to my future wife. someday...i would like to hear who you guys are "in love" with.i'm off to Georgia again this Saturday to spend time with the wrestlers. happy holidays everyone! sincerely,
Jae-Ho
music is my girlfriend. it never let's me down.
