I had been asked a couple of times by fans, friends around me and by reporters who interviewed me recently. Who is the character I'm playing in To Kill a Mockingbird?I believe I had to give a detailed insight as an actor point of view. In my own words. So please pardon my English as I'm not very good at it.Jeremy Atticus "Jem" Finch. 12 year old boy born in Alabama Maycomb County. Has a 8 year old Sister Jean Louise "Scout" Finch and a 'almost fifty' dad Atticus "one-shot" Finch. At that age, Jem is undergoing the transition between a kid and a young man. Constantly going through lessons of life from his neighbours, Father, and especially the case of the black man Tom Robinson. In fact, alot of the storytelling follows the growth of young Jem Finch. Such as Jem destroying Mrs Dubose's Garden after she commented that Atticus law for a nigger, or Jem's childhood fear of Boo Radley which eventually led to the discovery of his little presents to the children. Together with Jem, the audience learn about what is right and wrong. Various morales of life had been taught. Jem is also trying very hard to be a 'real' adult, especially so when he's always trying to boss Scout and Dill around, playing leader, and trying to imitate the way Attitus talks to them.Jem also inherited Atticus's Justice. Though he's afraid, he did not hesitate to stand up for whats right. Such as trying to stand by Atticus when a Mob of men came down to Tom Robinson's jailhouse trying to lynch him, and how he fought Bob Ewell when he and his sister's life are in danger.Actually I've been feeling kinda homesick recently. Mainly is because I never failed spending this period of the year in HongKong/Guangzhou with my family ever since I was born. Its indeed the first time in my life spending Chinese New Year without my family, in Singapore.Thankfully I had lots of close friends here with me. Thank you for all your invites to Reunion dinner. I indeed spent my new year eve very fruitfully.Missing CNY to stay in Singapore is due to the tight rehearsal schedule for TKAM, my debut theatre performance. I had been putting so much effort and time into it and am indeed glad that progresses can be seen in me finally.Today, I'd like to share some behind the scene pictures I've found recently.Of course, the theme of the play wouldn't be as dark as the promo poster. In my next blog I'll share the experience of rehearsals with everyone with pictures. Meanwhile, have a pleasant festive season and Happy Valentines Day!
