There are times that I find myself saying the same thing a lot and this is one of these times. I have found that many people don't understand what actors do to create something exciting to watch and yet very believable. They don't understand how we create this magic.
I try to tell them how actors practice and rehearsal in the same way that professional athletes prepare for the "big game". And still most people don't understand or just don't believe me because it "looks so easy". But I know it's true.
What I must tell actors and directors and writers that they must prepare as strongly as these athletes do. I tell them
GOOD ENOUGH IS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH.
Everyone likes a short cut. I know that I do. But sometimes it doesn't offer the same results. Today a friend sent me this piece about a man watching a butterfly struggling to get out of his cocoon. The man kindly cuts the cocoon to help the butterfly get out but when the butterfly emerges part of his wing is withered. The butterfly needed to struggle for his wing to come to full growth. We all need to struggle to come to our full growth.
Strive to be more than good enough. Stand out from the crowd. Show your worth.
Offer your uniqueness! Don't just think that good enough is good enough because
GOOD ENOUGH IS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH!
