Antenatal Scanning 18/2/08

At New York, New York eatery at AMK hub. Using Mr Cloudz' working laptop and the area's internet access. Quite cool, as i guess this is my 1st time using wireless network outside home.

Went for my antenatal scanning in the afternoon just now. It's to test for risk of down syndrome. Overslept till 3pm when my appointment was 3:15pm, got up, change and drove, reached ard 335pm but parking was very tight and i found a horrible squeezy place to park with weird angles that some tyre surrounding the pillar of the blding rubbed against Mr Cloudz' yellow car till there were long black marks :PPP Hope they can be easily washed off and are not scratches...i scratched the right mirror slightly arghhhhh. Was feeling so ughhh when i went up finally to the ADC centre.

Reached there, threw in my appt book into the in tray, waited. Then was brought to another rm whereby i waited for at least half an hour. Around me were pregnant women with their hubbies. Too bad i was alone since he's busy at work. After a really long time 2 couples joined in and the place was suddenly filled up. Finally they called my name. Went in and they did the scan, it seems like the normal scan, but i guess supposedly they are able to see more details like the existence of a nose bridge, some parts of the spine, the top of the head (Brain). Could see all four limbs. Could see the side profile of the baby and its cute nose. The doctor said my baby was 7cm long already. But still couldnt tell the sex of the child. Guess the next visit bah.

She then calculated using a machine on the risk of Down Syndrome. Normally the risk associated is 1:300, but mine was 1: >4000 so it was pretty low risked. There was another optional blood test which is 90% accurate. The scan i took was 80% accurate, cost S$160 after taxes. And to take this additional blood test, the price b4 taxes was S$300!!!! And i only get 10% more accuracy. And more needle poking through my body. Forget it. Dun need that additional test.

Left the place and pick Mr Cloudz up at his office and we went for a nice dinner at Manhatten Fish place my favourite baked dory in butter plum sauce which i didnt get to eat the last time (as mentioned in my previous blogs). Bought new dresses from M|phosis on 50% sale =) and pasta stuff again from Carrefour. Now in New York and Mr Cloudz is waiting for me to finish this blog b4 we go home.
