Childhood household stuff

This morning, i was making tuna and cheese sandwich for my breakfast, then washing my plate after that. The plate had sweet pink little roses scattered all over its white cool surface. Then i realised that this plate has been here almost as long as i was in my house. Remembered i used to eat from this plate after primary school plain porridge with Bouvil (delicious beef stock, nicer than Marmite) and it tasted good already. Some things just accompany you through life even though they are almost unnoticeable in the background. Trusty household stuff...Somehow i feel that things made during the past were far more durable and are quality stuff as compared to stuff made these days. Which are made in a frenzy, at low costs to achieve companies' turnover targets. One example is those DIY stools u get from IKEA. After assembling them, they are unstable, and not safe for sitting!!! And i learnt from an incident that one of my students' parents which fell down during one of my classes due to the stool giving way, that the stools were from IKEA :PP Guess next time when i finally have my own house and buy furniture and stuff, i'd avoid such cheap and low quality stuff. Sometimes in the long run, the slightly higher priced stuff serve you well, hence more value for money since depreciated over a longer time. But prices of things nowadays are crazy in SG! Taxi prices have increased tremendously for example, and chinese new year goodies like Rou4 Gan1 (BBQ pork slices) are like S$40 per packet! Madness...Our salaries do not seem to increase in line with inflation sadly.
