Diamonds

As mentioned in my "New Year's Eve" blog, was polishing my blings and ogling at some...

Just now after work, was checking out the prices of diamond solitaires at another jeweller which has the Hearts on Fire series. However, they're only on 10% discount, whereas the GIA series are having a major 60% discount! Anyone knows more info on GIA diamonds? How're they? But to me, they look pretty good and there's a very attractive discount now. Sales woman mentioned both series have 58 cuts, and Hearts on Fire is the ideal cut. I have to say i do like Hearts on Fire diamonds, but they're very pricey indeed.

Prices of diamonds have really decreased substantially since the time when Mr Cloudz and i selected my proposal ring, which was a Brilliant Rose, which has 66 facets. For 0.3 carats bigger, the price is lower now!!! Sighhhhhhh can u imagine?? Dropped a LOT. But yeah its GIA, not Brilliant Rose. But still, the clarity and colour is comparable too. And doesn't mean that the more cuts, the better the diamond is...

Well, for the price of a new solitaire, i can get maybe a few Gucci bags...which i told Mr Cloudz prolly is more practical since it's literally Bigger/more visible, and can be used!

But the weird thing is he rather buy me diamond than a Gucci bag...sigh.

When i was a little gal, i always wondered whats with my mother's fascination with jewellery?? Now i understand...im growing older :P

But if u're at a diamond mine, technically if u pick up one, probably it's free also...but then workmanship is another thing...watever.

So what are your views on diamonds? Useless expensive things whereby gold is better since gold is a commodity that can be sold in the market???
