tues mar 25 evaluation

As mentioned in the shoutbox, i had my evaluation today for book 3 of a school course whereby i was required to play and sing on the piano and electone.

Reached ard 12:05pm but saw 3 other teachers occupied. Tot i was after all 3 of them, but realised i was after 2 more, including 1 being evaluated...time over-run. 2 teachers were practising frantically in studios which they booked while waiting, whereas i just sat outside the studio, wanting to go in asap/let the occupants know i was there and ready to start. As time goes by, i went to the admin to borrow key wanting to practise, but in the end since the next tcher went in and i realised i was after her, i returned the key. In the meantime, i heard some nice piano sounds (jazz like) coming from a far inward studio. Walked in to peer at the player. Saw my course instructor who treated my batch peers to a nice lunch. She seems like a strict, demanding but high level teacher. And i like the kind of music she's playing. Happy to see her, and she was training another tchr.

Just when i was looking & listening, my turn was here. Guess the evaluator/course instructor saw my head peering also into her studio which pressurised her to finish faster. B4 tat, the other tchr after me told me "Hurry up/play faster, come out quickly". I told her it's up to the course instructor, then went in. Course instructor asked me to sit at the electone and asked wat song i prepared for the electone. I did for her the samba song. B4 tat i told her was having phlegm, and to excuse me. But i sang my best given my situation (blocked nose included) for her, and she was enjoying the music, in the middle she started to dance. After i completed, she clapped! Was pleasantly surprised and said thanks. Coz dun think she clapped for the rest...Then played and sing another song on the piano. And two repertoires of which one needed you to listen to the CD and play by ear and sing. After all that, she told me i had the ability to keep the music flowing, unlike the rest, and i worked hard...good try etc etc, asked me how i was coping with my classes. At 1st i was a bit stunned as in wat is she asking about my classes, then she explained, that my students may not be able to catch up with my speed. Which is true to some extent, but i push them and some of them are shining brightly now. She told me one of these days she would observe my classes, which i tot good also becoz hopefully after that i'd be given an increase in % of my commission/pay, since the school is swallowing a high % of wat im earning for the sch. And mind you, i have no fixed pay!!! GIven that, it's more lucrative to teach private, except no CPF, no paid maternity leave and u have to find your own students. well well...

Anyway back to the evaluation, i hurried out of the class due to the previous tchr's request and in the process left my thumbdrive at the electone. Luckily she returned to admin which called me and i was just going toilet. When i met her at the door, she told me "Wah your standard very high leh..." I just courteously said like 'no la.." then wished her good luck as all tchrs do.

Decided to treat myself to Swensen's executive lunch after the evaluation :) Had crayfish pasta with mushroom soup (which they forgot to serve 1st), tea, and dessert ice-cream with a cookie [which reminded me of Rennie's 'hamburger' ice-cream cookie] so i smeared the ice-cream on top of the cookie  But i guess Rennie's one tastes much nicer than wat i had. And becoz of my blocked nose, i had to constantly squeeze and blow the air pressure of my nose so that i can properly taste my food!!! Such torture to not taste my food... hahaha im a foodie glut  

After the very full lunch, since it was like raining heavily and heard thunder sounds, adjourn back to my music sch to look at jazz scores. Read thru some nice jazz lyrics songs like "Lullaby of a Birdland, Night & Day, The look of love, Round 'bout midnite (which i have), Quiet night & quiet stars etc etc". Then met my evaluator who told me that some staff have complained about my short skirt/dresses at times and she offered to lend me her daughter's maternity clothes!! =0 Told her my sis in law gave me one whole big bag. She said they dunno how to tell me, but anyway she said i was wearing nice and presentable today...Asked her in turn when's Book 4's training for my batch. She said Sept which will clash with my maternity leave. Hence i asked her to put me with the earlier batch training which starts in April, she asked me if i could cope, i said yeps. She said "yah, anyway u learn fast". After wat she said, i booked a studio and went to practise book 4's songs trying to sing and play (which is not an easy feat-much coordination is needed). It's hard to play well or sing well, let alone play AND sing well. After practising, i started to play my own songs for fun on the electone using vibraphone for Lullaby of a Birdland and Medium swing rhythm, One note samba, Volare Vio, You're the sunshine of my life and Red blouse, which i use mixture of piano and electric piano sounds with pop bossanova beats. oh yah and Take 5 using 5/4 rhythm, tried to improvise after modulating from Eflat minor to E minor, quite satisfying. Guess i need a digital keyboard to help me keep time while i improvise...just a wish list. And time flew by-it was already 5pm!!

Took bus to Orchard to change and the 2nd bus was already quite full due to ppl starting to knock off from work. Decided to go Parkway to have my dinner since i tot at home should have no dinner (i was right). Shopped ard briefly at Isetan and M|phosis looking at bags, clothes. Saw a nice green dress from M|phosis but selling for S$115!!! Not worth it, i'd wait for sales 50-70%. Then went and bought Coffee Bean's Pure Vanilla small, and walked thru the food court, but in the end decided to go to KFC! which i haven't had for a looong time :P Ordered 2 chicken with a whipped potato and continue to drink my vanilla ice blended. Ops i just remembered i even took away a Filet o' fish for my supper later from Macs :P heh i know, unhealthy fast food. watever. I was initially searching for the marine parade's curry puff as mentioned in my previous food website link i showed [ieatishootiblog.blogspot]. But no where to be found my curry puff :( went to the bakery stall and saw my egg tarts (Dan Taat) but want to have something savoury. Mm...still full now, it's 10pm, but guess might be hungry later haha.

Anyway hope i can go for holidays in June sch holidays whereby im 31 weeks i think, can't remember gynae said was it 32 or 34 wks onwards cannot go abroad. I wanna quickly go b4 baby comes out (then no time to go). So far thinking of Bali to relax...Any suggestions on which hotel/location, tips, wat/where to shop/eat at Bali, or other countries? 5 day trip, not too expensive.

Ops i hear the music of my K drama Frog prince (Karl) and the lady (Xiujing)...guess i'd go and watch now, catch u later~
