I just completed my contract with Time Out HK for the UTT articles written by Angie Wong, having illustrated 30 issues of 'Under the Table' with them. It's been a nice run, here below are a few of my favorites:An article about One Child Policy, and how this fat, rich, 10 year old kid hitting on Angie on a yacht.
Lionel Richie giving Angie life advice at a restaurant in NYC.
Something about being a 50's housewife.
Article about stock options. And how men view women in the same manner.
It's the company you keep that make the best meals ever, not the food.
Something about Sharks Fin and Fatty Tuna going extinct.
An online conversation with some creep. (I like the intimacy in this one)
Angie eats North Korean cuisine.
Dysfunctional Family. Fun to change up the style a bit here. A cartoon family.
Singapore's got the 'Sling', searching for HK's own signature drink.
Getting drunk txt msgs. omg rofl
These quarter page illo's aren't completed to the same degree as my other work, but the key to working in a limited budget is to get them done fast! I think over the course of the 30 issues I did with them, I got faster and faster with each one. The last one above only took me an hour to create the finish (after sketch stage). It's a nice exercise, working to a concept and then getting straight to the point in the illustration.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the process, and thank you to TOHK for the opportunity!
