Music pioneer Karen Mok, who just recently released her debut digital album, especially flew to Beijing last week to begin work with filming the music videos for the songs on her new album. They also invited Zhang Yibai, director of Lost Indulgence who Karen previously cooperated with, as the director of these music videos. When well-known director Zhang Yibai made the movie Lost Indulgence, he filmed Karen’s beautiful legs in a perfect and flawless way, leaving viewers and the general public with a deep and lasting impression. And this is one of the reasons why director Zhang agreed to the initial condition that Karen wears a short dress, revealing her beautiful legs while shooting the MV. Furthermore, the process of making the MV was also very special and Karen highly anticipates the resulting outcome of the shoot.

On the day of the shoot, the director asked Karen to wake up and be prepared for filming at 3:30 in the morning. The director explained that he didn’t have the tendency to mistreat people but because he wanted to capture the first rays of light that shined on Beijing City, he knew it would be tough and asked Karen to wake up particularly early. As expected, the weather on the day was clear, sunny and beautiful, and the radiance of sunlight was dazzling. Everyone in the production team noticed leopard patterned, back-revealing short dress she was wearing, as well as a casual sexy outfit that was on top of her corset. And she instantly became filled with energy. The song for the MV they filmed today, Beat the Hand Drums and Sing the Song, is a very well known traditional folk song in China. Hence the shooting location for the MV was locked onto Beijing City. But in order to add a bit of modern-day feel to the video, the decision was made to shoot the MV in Beijing’s most bustling districts, the “SOHO Established Outside”. This district is a very famous business and commercial district. There are many commercial buildings and famous retail stores in this area, so usually there are a lot of people here. Luckily, when they started filming the MV it was 5 o’clock in the morning so there weren’t many people walking in the streets. And there weren’t any situations where an audience started to gather around so it didn’t affect the progress of filming. The most interesting thing that happened was that the director thought of an idea and let Karen be the photographer for the MV. He gave her the camera and asked her to take photos while hopping and jumping around various commercial buildings, holding the camera high and taking self-portrait snapshots. The director even jokingly said that a third of the set photographer’s pay should be given to Karen. On the day of the shoot, the production team had arranged for other filming equipment such as a large apparatus with a suspended camera and three other cameras on the streets that captured the footage. Commercial buildings nearby also sent out several groups of security staff to help keep things in order and assist with blocking off the roads. Surrounding viewers of the general public started to increase. Fortunately, everything was under control, filming went very smoothly and the MV was completed before people started work.

拍攝當天，導演要求 Karen在淩晨三點半起床開始準備，導演說自己並非有虐待狂，而是因為他想要拍下在北京市區早晨的第一度曙光，所以才要辛苦 Karen這麼早起床拍攝。當天果然天朗氣清，太陽也綻放出耀眼的光芒，所有工作人員看到 Karen的一身豹紋圖案的大露背雪紡短裙，加上馬甲外穿的時尚性感打扮，也立刻變得精神奕奕。是次拍攝 MV的歌曲《打起手鼓唱起歌》是一首全中國家傳戶曉的民族歌曲，所以拍攝地點也鎖定在北京市，不過為了增添現代感覺，拍攝地點選在北京最熱鬧的地區“建外 SOHO”區，這一區是非常著名的商業區域，很多商業大廈及著名商店林立，所以平常會有很多人聚集，還好開始拍攝時是清晨的五點，路人不多，拍攝的進度也沒有因為有途人圍觀而出狀況。更有趣的是，導演想到直接讓 Karen自己來當攝影師，把攝影機器交給 Karen在各棟商業大廈跑跑跳跳，高舉機器對著自己拍攝，導演更開玩笑說，攝影師的酬勞要分三份之一給 Karen呢！不過當天拍攝的隊伍也有安排大型的吊臂機器及三部攝影機在街道進行拍攝工作，附近的商場大廈有關部門更派出數十名保安人員來維持秩序及封鎖道路，圍觀的市民也越來越多，還好場面也受到控制，拍攝過程順利地在大家上班之前完成了！
