This time when I was in Beijing on the first night recording music, I was gazing at the Beijing sky from inside the window of the hotel I was staying at. Coincidently there was a crescent moon suspended up in the sky, shining extra brightly; over many days of concentrated work, all the vocal tracks were finally finished. Once again I looked up, just as before there was a crescent moon shining in the sky. Yes, counting the days from the beginning to the end it was exactly one month. With the moon shining in the sky, that time when I planned to do a cover of this song, it also brought me boundless imagination of ideas and inspiration.

is a song familiar to everyone in China. It is a folk song collected by writer Mr Wang Luo Bin at Kashi prefecture in Xinjiang. It is said that it was originally an ancient dance . Wang Luo Bin re-arranged the original into a slow song, then put new lyrics on top, turning it into a beautiful melodious song. As well as keeping the folk song's unique character, it can also paint a description of delicate feelings. Over so many years there has been many people who re-arrange and sing their own interpretation of this song, so that the melody has been deeply imprinted in everyone's heart.

This song is full of strong classical rhyme, the melody is very beautiful; when I was trying to figure out how to interpret this song it seemed like a I had a stroke divine of inspiration, I suddenly thought of one of the sections of music from Mozart's opera; on the second day I boldly brought up the idea to Zhang Ya Dong, of adding the opera part into , combining the subtle feelings of the Chinese classics with the elegance of Western classical music. The result in the end was unexpectedly pleasing! In fact when I was studying in Italy, I already had a penchant towards Italian operas. This time I can finally display and put to good use my "secret skill", singing a section of opera in this song. Most people who hear me sing will say am an alto, but now I will openly tell everyone that in fact I am a soprano!! After going through the vocals, Ya Dong put in a lot of effort and techniques in the music arrangement. Listening to it fills people with hope, visualising the future, leaving people with a relaxed and carefree feeling.

Producer Zhang Ya Dong said: This song was originally already full of classical style, and after Karen's own idea to add in a section of opera to combine together, this feeling became even deeper. When I was listening to Karen sing opera I was very surprised. Her voice was extremely captivating, drawing me deeply in. The result of the two songs joined together, can completely remove all cultural barriers, just like feelings can also break through all barriers; listening to this song, it's as if the whole world were also gazing at the same crescent moon...... | 這一次在北京進行錄音工作的第一個晚上，我在下榻的飯店窗內看著北京的天空，正好有半個月亮懸掛在天空中，份外明亮；經過多天密集式的工作，所有配唱工作終於完成了，我再抬頭看一看，同樣地有半個月亮在天空中照耀，是的，我算一算日子剛剛好前後是一個月的時間了。隨著月亮在天空中照耀，當時我設計要翻唱這首歌的時候，也為我帶來了某些天馬行空的想法及靈感。

《半個月亮爬上來》在中國是大家耳熟能詳的一首歌曲，是作者王洛賓先生在新疆喀什地區搜集到的民歌。據說原曲是一首古老的舞曲《依拉拉，沙依格》，王洛賓將原曲改編為慢板的抒情曲，自己再重新譜上新詞，變成了一首曲調優美的抒情歌曲，既保留了民歌的特質，又能突現當中的細膩感情描寫。所以這首歌曲在這麼多年來一直有很多人改編及翻唱過，旋律都深深烙印在大家的心裡。

這首歌富有農厚的古典韻味，調子非常優美；當我在設計要如何演繹這首歌的時候好像有神來之筆，突然聯想到莫札特的歌劇《唐璜》中的其中一段選曲；第二天我大膽向製作人張亞東提議將此歌劇選段加進《半個月亮爬上來》當中，讓中國古典的含蓄情懷與西方古典的優雅氣派結合，結果出來的效果是出人意表地滿意！其實我在義大利讀書的時候，就已經對義大利的歌劇情有獨鍾，這一次終於可以讓我大顯身手施展我的“秘技”，在這首歌中演唱一段歌劇。一般人聽我唱歌都會說我以中低音取勝，我不妨告訴大家其實我是一位女高音來的！！經過配唱之後，亞東在音樂的處理手法上花了很大的功夫去編排，聽起來有讓人充滿希望，對未來有憧憬，令人心曠神怡的感覺。
