In Sendai

This is what I experienced approximately one month ago.

I went to Sendai five days after the day when we had East Japan great earthquake disaster to work on recovery.

Because an expressway was not usable, I took ten hours on a general road.

A lot of private houses destroyed by an earthquake on the way toward Sendai watched it.

It seemed that the scene was buried among snow like a ghost town.

I who arrived at Sendai safely worked on recovery with a friend for three days.

The Sendai city received the influence of the earthquake, but did not have effect of the tsunami.

Sendai Station collapsed, and the Shinkansen has stopped on the way.

The outer wall of the building collapsed.

There was not food, and all convenience stores of the downtown closed.

For staying two days, it snowed and was very cold.

The meal of the period was only brief things such as the canned food of a rice ball and the fish, instant noodles.

And I was not able to take a bath because gas stopped.

However, people who are in the refuge live in harder environment.

I was able to endure it when I thought about the thing.

But I was troubled in the aftershock which continued repeatedly many times every day.

私は約一ヶ月前の、３月１５日から１８日まで復興の手伝いで仙台に居ました。 高速道路が通行止めになっていたので、一般道を通って車を飛ばす事１０時間。 途中、地震の影響で潰れてしまった家屋や、土砂崩れを起こした山間を見ながら、何とか無事に仙台まで辿り着きました。 津波の影響を受けていないものの、市街のあちこちで塀が倒れていたり、ビルの外壁が壊れ下に落ちていたり、ひび割れが出来ていたりと被害が及び、仙台駅も使用不能になって、新幹線も途中で止まっていました。更には食料が不足し、ガスが止まり、ガソリンも底をつきそうな状態で、全てのコンビニが閉まって真っ暗になっている様子は異様な感じでした。 天気も悪く、そうでなくても寒いのに、雪まで降る始末！暖を取る事さえ難しい避難所生活をしている人達には本当に厳しい状況が続いていたと思います。 私も作業で汗をかいても風呂に入れない日々が続きましたが、暖を取って寝る事も出来ましたし、食事も魚の缶詰やおにぎり、カップラーメンなどですが、きちんと頂く事が出来ていたので、ありがたかったです。 ただ、毎日何度も続く余震には、悩まされました。
