Anti-CNN??

Someone sent this website to me: http://www.anti-cnn.com/

is it for real?? if so, it's really very ridiculous...

The CNN controversy has been a heated up topic recently among Chinese community, to be specific, CNN commentator Jack Cafferty made a racist comment, referring Chinese as goons and thugs, on his show and enraged Chinese people around the world, later CNN made a statement clarifying the speech, saying that his comment was actually targeted to the Chinese government but not Chinese people. the explanation didn't help to solve the problem but in fact escalated it to an internationally political incident, with the Chinese governement demanding an offical apology... (if you wanna learn more, just search on google)

Provoked by CNN's response, many people began to collect wrongful information by  western media, accusing them of distorting the truth. While we are always complaining the Chinese government for a lack of transparency, the information revealed on this website perhaps can lead us to another question: which is better (or worse), to hide information or to provide wrong information? and what exactly is propaganda?

If you wanna learn more about what is propaganda, check this article by NY times:

It also shows us how dangerous it is for us to take what the media offer for granted. I have actually talked to quite some people who don't even know where the hell is Tibet and dunno anything about it, they just kinda read the news and decided they need to help "Free tibet"...

i'm not asking people to take side, but what i think is that, always digest what you perceive, use your critical judgment to make a decision...

yeah those protests got a lot of coverage out here but almost none in the US. one thing that bugs me is that they called CNN 'racist' for criticizing china... which i think mixes up their nationalism problems w/ their racial identity... not a good idea.

I think not all Chinese don't like Dalai Lama, but at this moment, people tend to tie his connection with the riot in Tibet (regardless of he is participating in it or not) Anyway, I think the point I want to make is that: always digest what you perceive/hear, use your critical judgment to make a decision...

i went back and looked at the clipping you posted... i think this is a case of 'overreaction' or reading incompetence as mal-intent... the picture is obviously not related to the text on the side (there's no truck, no chinese troops, no prisoners, etc). so i would say 'lies' is not the correct reaction... 'wrong' is more like it. hyperbole only inflames things...

"which is better (or worse), to hide information or to provide wrong information? " More information is always better than less. At least if you have information, you can examine it for truthfulness or lack thereof. Did CNN publish that picture of (out-of-season) pregnant antelope running beneath the train? I agree with Etchy; this is a matter of reading in(to) a second language more than any kind of conspiracy.
