Dancing while intoxicated (Don't try this at home)

If alcohol consumption is directly correlated with how much fun you have at a party, then for me the Adidas/Diesel party was a huge success! Actually I didn’t drink that much but I had a righteous buzz on. It all started with a chatty happy hour and oops, a few hours go by and I forgot all about eating dinner. Then came the straight up margaritas at Lotus. I swear that place has the best margaritas in all of Hong Kong. They are just sour enough and just sweet enough to go down ultra-smooth. Before you know it, some tequila monster has unsuspectingly hit you with the drunk bat and you’re laughing at everything and wobbling when you walk.

[endif]The party was at the Adidas originals shop on Kingston Road in Causeway

Bay. The split level shop is enormous and was decent enough of a size to hold loads of trend-setting partygoers. Most of the alivenotdead artists were there as well as the usual suspects and of course- there were models. Some of them were wandering around in “I love Adidas” baby tees and some were lying on a bed in the middle of the shop. One model was in the store window.  There was a game of pool on.

After 24 HERBS performed, the party migrated next door to the Diesel shop. For some reason, there was a carnival-like atmosphere. Perhaps it was because a lot of people were wearing very bright colors or loud prints that had cartoon-like graphics. To complete the playful atmosphere, there was a man with a big cotton candy machine handing out fluffy wads of pink sugar. It’s amazing how naughty an innocent thing like cotton candy can be when combined with the party atmosphere.

Tung Tung was spinning and at some point, another DJ took over the decks and started playing some stuff that sounded like hip-hop meets old skool Motown. You know when you’re tipsy and you feel the music coursing through your veins and suddenly you become the best dancer in the universe? That’s what happened to me. I was getting my groove on big time doing little shoulder shrugs and other kinds of daring moves which are not normally attempted when sober. At some point, it seemed like there were all these flashes going off and people crowding around to take photos. I thought at first that it was because of my green vintage Adidas dress with the white back-to-school legwarmers, or my homegirl side-braid hairdo, but then I realized no, I was just acting the fool! When I looked at my camera the next day, there were so many hilarious photos- half of which I don’t remember having taken. Well at least you know that some of your dance moves are being appreciated when people start tipping you J LOL! Funny, happy, and carefree- it’s a good way to feel when you’re out partying.
