Been watching an excessive amount of Friends lately n just finished the episode of Chandler proposing to Monica.
Heard so many stories of how bf's propose to their gf's and all guys have the wrong impression. Exactly what Chandler said near the end of the episode, it's not about the location of the proposal, the mood or ambiance. It's so cliche to do the flower, ring, kneeling down in a public place and proposing. To a girl it's all about how sincere the guy is and what he has to say.
If the couple is so madly in love with each other, the guy wouldn't even need a ring and the girl would still say yes. Proposing is about a verbal contract of commitment and how you would want to spend the rest of your life with this person...the ring is just the icing on the cake or the little extra something to seal the deal.
Most of the time guys over think how they want to propose or how they want their wedding to be and everything just blows out of proportion. Simplicity always works!
To me the perfect proposal would be waking up in the morning still in bed with the man that I love, looking deep into my eyes, telling me how he would want me to spend the rest of my life with him and that he'll do everything he can to make me happy. Not super romantic but it's sweet, simple and sincere.
