Taking it too literally

Read an artical at the airport today about peoples perception to blogs and column pieces. It talked about how now a days people don't like to think deep and just like to take things exactly as how it is written. Because of this, writters have changed the way they write for readers to understand their pieces better.

People that like to write, tend to write with a hidden message or with a 'topic'.

I like to do both but some how I too have found that people take it to literally and read everything word for word as it is. Why take things so seriously and so literal?

Also notice that people don't read things properly or just skim through things as well which then they end up missing points.

Negative written pieces also have their own positive issues and vice versa. It's like a scale or in Chinese 'Ying and a Yang'. There's always a balance to things. Just because a person writes something in a negative view doesn't mean this person is negative or is about to kill him/herself and vice versa. If a person writes in a positive view it doesn't mean this person is the happiest person either.

So when did the readers change of reading habits happen? Are people just simply getting to lazy to think when they read or are people just simply getting too thick?
