Back in May I made a Mother’s Day Video for my mom. I captured some old VHS footage digitally and then edited it together with Elton John’s Goodbye Yellowbrick Road. At the time I had planned to swap out mom-specific footage with dad-specific footage so that I could make a version for my father on Father’s Day as well.
For those who are you curious I used Sony Vegas 6.0 for both. (I upgraded to 8.0 once, but it was twice the size and way too laggy, so I downgraded back to the version I like best. Sony should probably make a Sony Vegas Lite, or something.)
At first I thought that maybe I was cheating a bit by not having different gifts for my parents on their respective days. But then I though that I shouldn’t worry about stuff like that and that I had started with the intention of making a video for both of them and that they would appreciate it regardless of whether or not the videos were 85% the same in content.
And actually, of all the various videos I’ve edited together, this is one of my favorites now…
