Hong Kong (5/12): Let's Fight - Round 2

The first night of Let's Fight was the more "punk" type of rock music. The second night was supposed to be the "hard core" type of rock.  The rumors were in no way false.

After doing some work at the office in the afternoon we (the usual suspects) met up to eat some yoshinoyas and grab some taxis to the venue.  The second night was sold out, which is a great thing, and they had another round of tables for more bands.  I bought a King LyChee t-shirt, got a QiuHong Sticker and another Let's Fight T-shirt.  But to be honest, I wanted to get some more stuff -- I just didn't bring enough money.

Pat's T-shirt says it all

This time we went up to the VIP area right off the bat.  This means I got more pictures than the night before, and it also means I was regretting not charging up my camera the night before.  I was low on batteries and only had enough charge to snap a few shots of each band and a small clip for a montage (at the bottom of this entry),

The highlights for me were King LyChee, who seriously rocked the house down.  Literally.  It was just rubble in there afterwards.  We had to bring a construction crew in to rebuild the venue for the next act.  It was insane.

She is both frightening and wonderful. Sort of like 24 Herb Medicine.

I also really liked Ryan's set.  I only knew him from his profile page and the one mp3 we have on his page, but he's a really dynamic live performer.

He rocks so hard no camera can capture him

He's quite well-dressed for a rocker

And one of my favorites was definitely Qiu Hong.  If the second night was all about crazy energy, then Qiu Hong was the battery driving it all.  They were awesome.

There was also a surprise appearance by Mandy and Soler.  Soler is a band headed by two twins, both of whom totally look like they could be my friend Sadiq's brothers.  They're a bit taller than Sadiq, and a bit more "dreamy" (as the girls in 1955 would say), but very similar look about them.

Josie also did a great job as did my homeboys AudioTraffic. To be honest, everyone was great so if I were to single out the best bands I'd end up singling out everyone, which is much less "singling" and much more "grouping". But you get the idea. It was a great show. (I even managed to quash my urge to leave the crowded, loud, dark place for the quiet of the neighboring bowling alley for the whole night. Mainly because I was scared I wouldn't be able to get back into the VIP area or I might miss something interesting on stage.)

Adrian cried out his words, which were followed by girls crying "Adrian!!"

The show seemed to go by faster than the night before, but it might just be because I was trying to focus more on the music than my incredibly pained feet.  After the show Terence brought us back stage to hang out with the bands and see them get interviewed by the press.  As etchy mentioned, some of us got in a few of their shots.

After that was all over we made our way to a sketchy part of town (according to Terence) where we met all the band and crew at a very not-sketchy restaurant for a wrap party dinner.  I'm not sure if you can call it a dinner when it starts at 1 a.m., Maybe sort of like a Dinfast?  Anyway, we ended up leaving around 3 a.m. or so.

Once again in bed by 4 a.m.  Definitely not a schedule I want to keep up, and it's going to be hard to get back on a normal one, but I guess thats' the price we pay for rocking out.

Yeah ... I need a normal schedule. It's 12:20 a.m. and I've been at the office for 12 hours now, so it probably won't be today or tomorrow...

you should put some chinese tags into your video, you'll get a lot of hits. I had about 400-500 views per day on my two vids from the show...
