Shanghai (12/31 - 1/4): Peter’s Last Days

I actually wrote this entry already, but my battery died and I forgot to save it so I’m going to just give you the abridged version now instead. Here it is:

December 31

We spent the day hanging out at my place. In the evening went to the House of Jazz and Blues with my next door neighbor Sherry and her two friends. Got a birthday greeting from the singer in the band. Also got a lot of nice text messages from various friends around China. Afterwards the three of us went to City Diner for some breakfast food and then back home to sleep.

January 1

Zhu Wen Jun showed up around 10:00 a.m. and hadn’t slept yet. She crashed and Peter and I went out for a walk around. Got some dumplings, toured the wushu school, and got some DVDs and lunch. Watched “Rocky Balboa” and “Chocolate Factory” and hung out at home for the rest of the day.

January 2

In the morning we went with Peter to Yang Laoshi’s class where he participated. My ankle is still sprained so I didn’t do anything but watch. Also talked to the headmaster a bit. After class we went back home and in the afternoon went to Hankou Stadium and then to Xiu Jia Hui for electronics shopping. Got some KFC for dinner and headed back home where Zhu Wen Jun was laying on the couch watching TV (what a life). In the evening we hung out and relaxed.

January 3

Went to Yang Laoshi’s class again in the morning and Peter gave the boys and Yang Laoshi some gifts from the U.S. Then we went to the DVD store, then back to Hankou Stadium where Peter bought some wushu stuff. Then back to home where we spent most of the afternoon getting ready for our respective trips. In the evening we went to go eat at Ding Tai Fung in XinTianDi with Zhu Wen Jun and Yo Yo. Then some Ice Cream Fondue at Haagen Daaz before going home. I spent most of the night packing for my trip.

January 4

Peter and I said goodbye to Zhu Wen Jun who will be watching my place and caught a taxi to the airport. I had two huge suitcases (one was for Jisue and not my stuff), a carry-on roller and a backpack. Peter had Matt’s ginormous golf bag. We hung out together until I had to get to my gate so said goodbye and I got on my plane.

The flight was great. Only about 25 people on the whole flight. Asiana is a great airline. I arrived in Seoul and the weather has been quite nice. I’ll write more about my Korea trip in another entry.

It was great having Peter visit. I hope he enjoyed himself in Xiamen and Shanghai. I can’t believe I’m moving to Hong Kong … weird.
