It seems like the end of this year has become extremely busy for me. I think it's starting to feel a little overwhelming. I've started to teach more jazz classes at pure...so, it means that I have to choreograph more combinations for my classes. Along with that choreography, I still have 1 big number to choreograph for the play that I'm doing in Jan. AND I have to train my body back into shape for my competition coming up later this month!!! I really can't believe that it's in less than 2 weeks!! I don't really think I'm ready for it since I hurt my back/shoulder. I'm not yet fully recovered..but, it's getting there. I've already started to train again but there are certain movements I'm supposed to avoid until I'm fully recovered. I'm kind of in a panic about that...and the other day I just broke down and started to cry...I just don't know if I'm good enough to be competing in an international championship....it's kind of scary....I feel like my life has been filled with competitions since I was a little girl! I really don't like competing.....performance is much more my thing.
Yesterday I watched the beginning of this years jazz festival. I believe it's the first jazz fes in hk!! Cousin Lawrence Ku was in the line up yesterday at the HK Cultural Centre....right outside...it was really a great set up and I had a lot of fun. I obviously don't have to say how good they were..hahaha....in Lawrence's trio there was Nick Mcbride (who played for me at Backstage in August) and Steinar on keyboard.....There was also this singer from Japan, Toku...who also plays the flugelhorn. He was amazing!! He has this voice that is so laid back and sounds like his intrument....and I really admire how he can lead the band...it's something I really look up to. Tonight will definitley be exciting because I finally get to see Lawrence team up with Eugene Pao!!!
Since my cousin is here....it's also hard for me to find the time to choreograph..but, I better get my butt into gear soon!!! I'd tell you all to ck out tonights gig...but, I know it's sold out already!
here are some pictures from yesterday
