singing the National Anthem

I had the privilege to sing the National Anthem at an A's Baseball game on Wednesday afternoon.  It was definitely a fun experience.  I think it may be the biggest audience I've ever had!  So....I got to the stadium at 10am to do a sound check.  It was the first time I ever had to use those earpieces so that I could hear myself sing.  There is a few seconds delay....so, I needed to wear the earpiece in order to not be distracted by my own delayed voice. 

But, truthfully, it felt a bit surreal when I had that thing on...as if I was in a dream and not really singing...didn't feel too good...and it was harder for me to relax and sing to my full potential...oh well......at 12 noon I was on the field singing in front of about 30,000 people or so.  It will definitely be fun to tell my kids one day...."mommy sang the national anthem at a Baseball game"..hahaha....

What was really funny was....there were a lot of little kids that day..and when I went to the bathroom I heard one of the little girls say, "that's the girl who sang the National Anthem"...and a few men came up to me to say, "nice singing".  Also, after I sang, one of the players gave me a high five and said "good job"....it was pretty nice   and a very memorable experience indeed....

The recording doesn't sound very good to me...my brother-in-law told me that the sound guys were impressed with my performance and wanted me back again....he said that, of course, the live performance was much better than the recording....I hope so..
