Stealth Media Group launches Stealth Asia
The London and LA base Stealth Media Group (SMG) was formed in February 2009 by film entrepreneurs Michael L Cowan and Jason Piette of Spice Factory one of Europe’s most dynamic independent production companies and of distribution and sales specialist Sean O’Kelly (sean has acquired and sold literally hundreds of films and has been responsible for over 19.5 million DVD sales in the UK alone, spanning the whole spectrum from library films to re-sales of new productions).
STEALTH ASIA is a sub-label for SMG, focusing on Asian films. The focus is to get behind talent and build longstanding relationships with established and up and coming writers, directors and producers in Asia. Stealth Asia intends to produce, co-produce, co-finance and acquire international sales rights to 3-4 films per year and television series based in Asia.
Stealth Media Group is pleased to announce that Hong Kong based Producer & Consultant Mike Leeder will be working with the company as "their man in Hong Kong and Asia".
Based in Hong Kong since 1990, Leeder is regarded as an expert in not only Asian action cinema but Action cinema in general and has worked both in front of and behind the camera on a variety of Asian & International productions including Jet Li's 'Fearless', Jackie Chan's 'Rush Hour 3', Baz Luhrman's 'Australia', 'Blood: The Last Vampire', "The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor', "The Art of Action: Martial Arts In The Movies', "David Carradine; A Martial Arts Journey', Yuen Woo-Ping's "True Legend', and on independent productions including 'Nightlife Hero', 'The Bodyguard: A New Beginning', 'Underground' & 'Ten Dead Men'. Leeder has also worked with companies including Dragon Dynasty, Hong Kong Legends, Premier Asia, BCI, Media Blasters, Channel Four, the BBC & The Discovery Channel.
Leeder will be involved in Asian acquisitions, Co-productions, Co-financing and facilitating productions for SMG to be shot in Asia for the international market.
Commenting on the launch of Stealth Asia, Leeder said - “I’m delighted to be working with Stealth & Stealth Asia on bringing a number of new exciting projects to the screen, as well as giving Asian filmmakers and production companies a dynamic new way of presenting their films to the international market. I’m looking forward to building up the Stealth Asia brand and making a real impact in the industry.’
