Just catching up on my world news .... an 84 year old Nigerian man, has been ordered by Islamic authorities to divorce 82 of his 86 wives - then repent or face death ..... he'll probably go ahead with the mass divorces, but i doubt he'll truly repent .... considering his comments when originally challenged ...
Mr. Bello Abubaker, 84 - teacher / preacher
"A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them"
"To my understanding the Koran does not place a limit and it is up to what your own power, your own endowment and ability allows"
"God did not say what the punishment should be for a man who has more than four wives, but he was specific about the punishment for fornication and adultery"
Muslim law allows men to marry up to four wives ..... whether one believes in "monogamy" or "polygamy" .... 86 wives does seem rather excessive. ..... apparently, he claimed to have lived blissfully with his huge family, the ages of his wives ranging down from 76 to 25, along with his 189 wonderful children ..... pretty amazing!
Now, i really don't know much about the Koran nor Muslim law ... but, just in terms of commonsense, what is this guy thinking all these years....
