Queen's Cafe「皇后飯店」- since 1952

those living in HK will be familiar with the name Queen's Cafe 「皇后飯店」... one of the first Honkie-style Western restaurants in the territory - still around these days in just a few locations .... BUT, what i didn't know was that the original restaurant was in fact situated on King's Road, North Point (the part of town i'm currently living), first opened in 1952.

so according to their historical roots, they have recently re-opened a shop near to the original location - i recently noticed they had taken over from the Grappa's Factory - Italiano, earlier this year (whilst i was in Beijing) on the G/F of Island Place, King Road.

visited for dinner there last Friday ..... we ordered a couple of the set dinners, which for starters included servings of maybe the best Borstch in town (thick thick veggie & beefy flavor) as well as their signature Sauteed L'escargots Mushrooms ...

for the main courses, we chose Black Pepper Rib-eye and Butter Grilled Sole with Almond Banana Fritters.... was pretty yummy! ..... an enjoyable evening, set in "old-style" HK ambiance and decor...
