calm, cool and collected..... those were fashion words that i learned early and well in the industry... funny i always hated the glam.. it was weird how i felt like i never really quite belonged.. but that is the same story all my life.... you know you are a bit different....the high adrenalin and stress of deadlines and people freakin out.. brings me back to those words.. remain calm and together.. even when i and everyone else was on an unhumane point of no return and pre fashion week.
My creative director when i first started in fashion...was Atsushi Takekoshi ..he was this AMAZINGLY talented and pure disciplined designer.. ..his only weakness were french fries... he always seemed to know the moment when a garment was perfect... and really you could not find fault.. ... i learned alot from him... he was seasoned under Issey Miyake .. i call them the disciples.. as there were a whole bunch of peeps that were mentored by Mr Miyake....there was no fuss...just absolute clarity.
I learned the purity of line and form...i made an association of my love of graphics.. and # dimensional form translated into fashion by others...together it has an awesome energy...
i have always been attracted to street art... back from my early days growing up in London and Manchester...i used to get around to the most obscure spots to discover a piece...the urban canvas... the freedom of expression no matter how big or small.. is a statement.
enjoy the weekend!
