Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas.
Bruce Campbell, some of you might never heard of him, but if you did you just gotta love the man. And today I'm presenting a movie with him, directed by his best friend Sam Raimi. Actually Sam and Bruce started their carreer together since they were teenagers, doing a lot of shorts and then came Sam and Bruce's breaktrough: Evil Dead. Which brings us today to one of the best horror-comedies ever:
Army Of Darkness (1992) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106308/maindetails
In this sequel to the Evil Dead films, a discount-store employee ("Name's Ash. Housewares.") is time-warped to a medieval castle beset by monstrous forces. Initially mistaken for an enemy, he is soon revealed as the prophecised savior who can quest for the Necronomicon, a book which can dispel the evil. Unfortunately, he screws up the magic words while collecting the tome, and releases an army of skeletons, led by his own Deadite counterpart. What follows is a thrilling, yet tongue-in-cheek battle between Ash's 20th Century tactics and the minions of darkness.
Fun Facts:
The magic words Ash must use to claim the Book of the Dead are "Clatto Verata Nicto" - a reference to "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto", the words used to command the robot Gort in The Day the Earth Stood Still.
That beat-up Oldsmobile that goes through time with Ash belongs to director Sam Raimi. He included it in most of his early movies, each time more banged up than the last. The items in the trunk of the Olds are not product placements; they're what Raimi actually had in his trunk.
Bruce Campbell says that in order to make it appear that the chainsaw was always running, tobacco smoke was pumped through a tube that was slid up his right pant leg, up his shirt, and into the chainsaw.
During the final battle between the Deadites and Ash's men, one of the Deadites lets out a war cry that is almost identical to that of Xena: Warrior Princess -- a series in which Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell both featured in, and was also produced by Sam Raimi.
So for Army, I'm also giving two scenes:
First one is the "pit" scene:

And the great final scene, the "Hail to the King"!
