"Wanted" film review

Account manager Wesley Gibson (McAvoy) is a total loser, he has a shitty job where he is mistreated by his donought-eating boss, his girlfriend cheats on him with his best friend and he is on medication because of his panic attacks. In short: Wesley is te ubber-loser.

But his life changes when Fox (Jolie) steps into his life by announcing that his father is dead and that he will become an assassin. Before she can even finish the sentence they are attacked by Cross (Kretschmann) who killed Wesley's father.

And from that point starts what seems to be an adaptation of Grand Theft Auto. Explosions, blood, punches, rats, follow up in a chaotic way of directing and storytelling that will only appeal to teenagers.

Kazakh filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov way of directing is more disturbing than appealing with his fast cutting where it seems that he is still not aware of the invention of the steadycam. The car chase scene lost me and gave me an headache, so poor the directing and the editing were.

Wanted was originaly addapted from the comic book Wanted written by Miller. But only 10% of the comic book remain in the film. While the mood of the comic was fantasy by having superheroes and villains, the movie tries to be realistic, but how could it when adding curving bullets, cars that ride on top of trucks after a tripple salto, and much more that makes the Matrix look like a true story.

As for the plot points, I have to say I was dissapointed: a loom decides the fate of the people that need to be dead, although visually the loom is beautiful it doesn't make up for the lack of story.

And even if McAvoy, Jolie perform well and do their best for the movie, the rest of the actors just seem to be there for decoration and aren't more then empty shells.

But even though Wanted is exagerated, it stays a fun movie to watch if you turn off your brains and decide to step into Jolie's car as McAvoy did.

pretty good review of the film. Dunno why so many directors try to use the crazy lets go look at everything camera to try and make things look fast paced. Usually just ends up making me mad and having a headache heh.
