King (for a day) of Mahjong

I had my best ever day of mahjong today. It was my birthday, and all I wanted to do was hang out with my friends and play mahjong.

So that's what we did.

Besides, it was too frigging hot outside today to do anything else...

I won three hands. But all three of them were pretty unusual, and, if I may say, impressive.

My first win had Chung baat fa:

Supposedly the hands were worth 12, 9, and 9 faanrespectively. I'm not sure as the calculations were done in Cantonese.

How much do I love mahjong? This much: Yeaaaah... mahjong ice cream cake!!!

They put three candles on the cake, each of which represented 14.33 years. To do otherwise was to risk fire and injury.

I got to spend time today with my friends, and that was the best part of my birthday. Playing Wii Tennis and Wii Resort was fun too, even if I got my @ss kicked serially in kendo. But mostly I just enjoyed being around people I know and care about and laughing a lot. It was good for me.

So thank you to Rick, Gigi, Gigi's parents, Rick's Mom, and my friends Maggie, Allison, and Kevin "the Golden Rock" Ma. I had an awful lot of fun and really enjoyed and appreciated the afternoon.

Kevin and Allison got me a very nice gift for my birthday, and hopefully I can get Race to autograph it the next time I see her!
