I have previously written about this project, something I bought cheap at Tom Lee's Factory Blowout Sale. It's the same frame as a volume pedal, but needed new electronics.
So I bought a volume pot and had it shipped to my mother's house in FLA, and picked it up while I was visiting.
Last Sunday, I got a wild soldering hair across my butt and spent my day doing electronics; 2 guitars and the pedal.
So how did I turn a continuous controller pedal for a rotary speaker effect into a volume pedal?
I took two input jacks and attached them to the front plate of the pedal.
I soldered the two jacks to the new volume pot (which fit perfectly since the pedals are the same) and even managed to do it correctly on the first try!
I put some black electrical tape over the other holes. Mostly for aesthetics, but also to keep dust/beer/assorted effluvia out.
Then I put the pedal back together.
I used silver paint pen to mark out which was jack was which. Makes it easier to put all that stuff together.
With this pedal, I can control the volume of the guitar with my foot, in case both hands are busy, or use it for certain effects.
So for about half price, I have a one-of-a-kind volume pedal.
That's
black.
