Patrick bloggedtoday about a recent event and a hypothetical extension/reaction.
Etchy had blogged about Shu Qi being photographed wearing an Alive Not Dead hat.
Patrick wondered if it would be possible to use these hats and conscious proactive behavior re: photonazis to perhaps change the way the game is played here. I quote:what if you had a bunch of the artists on our site wear our hats and then purposely went out and did "paraparazzi attracting" type things? things like....
female celebrity shops for bras!
male celebrity has his arm around female friend that's not his girlfriend!
gf and bf celebrity seen walking around in public area!
male celebrity partying!
(or if they were really brave... )
random male and female celebs could pretend to have makeout sessions in public,
or walk around in public areas holding hands,
etc.
the more outrageous the better.
now, assuming that a lot of this stuff actually got covered by the paparazzi, if this went on for, say ... a few weeks, after a while the paparazzi would probably be thinking it was kind of suspicious that all of these things were happening with the celebs wearing alivenotdead.com hats. and maybe they'd realize that they were being punk'd.and even if they didn't realize it (or didn't care), after a while, they'd probably get sick of constantly giving us free promotion. ===================================================I fully support f@#$ing with the media at every opportunity. They deserve it.
I love living in a city whose media are allowed to show people splattered all over the road in an accident, but if you get arrested for being some kind of underworld scumbag(did I stutter?), you get to have a black hood over your head to protect your identity.
James Hetfield and I share the same view of the issue:So in the interest of fostering a very healthy distaste for, even hatred of Hong Kong's parasitic, exploitative, irredeemable paparazzi, I offer these designs to either substitute for the official one or to be immediately and cheaply pirated in their stead: Let's face it, they deserve this and a whole lot more.
If we don't support the movies that deserve it, we get the movies that we deserve.
