I swear I don't look for things to complain about... I just find them.
Now, I am not a fan of Dragonforceexcept on a conceptual level; it's like listening to a regular CD at 2x speed. It makes me giggle to think about how they have stuffed more notes into a song than anyone could otherwise do.
If the 80s were the decade of guitar gymnastics, these guys are a doping scandal with drums.
I admit, I admire Herman Li for being a good guitarist, and for being the first international guitar hero Hong Kong has ever produced. I even went to his guitar clinic last year in Kowloon Bay, just for the goof. It was fun, and he was happy to be able to speak Cantonese.
But considering how this place never fails to trumpet itself as a Word City, and will bray endlessly about whatever it thinks the world ought to be proud of, I find it sad that Herman and his band don't get much respect. Hey, they're not Cantopop, so what do we expect?
So what if the rest of the planet finds them interesting. This is Hong Kong; the rest of the world can, as usual, go screw.
What's wrong with this picture?:
Notice our fair city is the ONLY one without a hyperlink. You want tickets? Mehhh, go to Tom Lee. This isn't important.
Way to stage a homecoming.
Then again, this is loud, guitar-based music. Not welcome here.Go look up 'willful provincialism' in the dictionary; there's a picture of Hong Kong above the entry.
If we don't support the movies that deserve it, we get the movies that we deserve.
