4 day weekend~!

Ahhh..the wonderful smell of polluted HK air, what a nice way of starting off a week!

My 4 day weekend turned out to be quiet eventful, a nice surprise actually, thought i was going to stay home and watch sappy love movies for 4 days given that everyone and their mother were out of town.

Friday went to the Audiotraffic and friends show, great show,  it was interesting, the place was set up like a movie theatre with assigned seating( yes,the red velvet seat cover kind!) ....so for the first half of the show, my friend Wing and I were sitting there thinking... erf....how can we go to a rock concert sitting down quietly and pretending we are listening to classical music. NAHHH...so when Stephen came back from the bathroom run, we got our entire row to stand up,  the expressions on the faces of t he girls sitting behind us were priceless.....heh  of course eventually everyone got up soon after, FUN!

Also got to catch one of the Asia Film Festival's featured films:

Kabei, directed by Yoji Yamada

It is always interesting to see war movies from a Japanese point of view, a mother struggled to raise her kids during the WWII. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, given the setting and the background of the film, the director managed to leave just the right amount of humor in the film. Showing the power of motherly love in a very settle yet tasteful way. sweet.

backtrack a bit, last weekend flew by really fast, co-worker's wedding, weddings are always nice, they say weddings are the best places to meet other singles of the opposite sex, since you are so :touched: by the idea of two people uniting together forever. shrugs I beg to differ....in any case, congratulations to the happy couple!!

ADDITIONALLY..... i know this is old news but:

prefix = rte ns = "urn:rte-search" /Opposition candidate Ma Ying-jeou has won Taiwan's presidential election, one dominated by concern over the economy and hopes for better ties with China.

'This is a victory for people who hope for change and openness  and reform,' he told his jubilant Kuomintang (KMT) supporters.

Soft-spoken and Harvard-educated, Ma has promised to work for closer ties with Beijing, including a peace treaty to end decades of hostilities, and to revive Taiwan's stuttering economy.

US President George W Bush sent his congratulations to Ma, saying his win was a new chance for China and Taiwan to resolve their differences.

'I believe the election provides a fresh opportunity for both sides (China and Taiwan) to reach out and engage one another in peacefully resolving their differences,' he added in a statement.

The vote had been closely watched by Beijing and Washington for signs of a new approach after eight years of recurring tensions under outgoing President Chen Shui-bian.

Final official figures by the election commission showed that Ma won 58.45% of the vote, and Hsieh 41.55%.

China's military crackdown in Tibet allowed Mr Hsieh to attack Ma's plan for an economic common market and peace treaty with China, but his attack did not appear to garner votes.

The island of Taiwan is the world's 17th largest economy, mainly on the back of its information technology sector, but is losing jobs and investment to mainland China, while incomes are stagnant.

YAY to direct flights from China to Taiwan!! :D
