as i was walking home last night i noticed this "homeless" dog pillaging through some dirty leftovers outside of this hole in the wall noodle house...fate would have it that it was just laying in the finishing touches moments before my presence...as it staggered up the sidewalk i couldn't help but observe its movements...i've never really taken the time to analyze these deprived creatures of the streets...so different than that of animals that have been domesticated...animals that have been cared and nurtured for...as a dog lover myself, it struck a chord deep beneath my empathetic genes...the way it was moving reminded me of spotted hyenas found in the savannas of East Africa...exactly like the ones depicted on Animal Planet...skinny, light footed creatures prowling through the wild...shrewd, cunning and highly calculative...the paranoia in his behavīor epitomized the rules of conduct for anything living in the wild...survival superseded all...you could tell his livelihood depended solely on his ability to sense and react...every little sound or movement had to be acknowledged, processed and decided upon...it was quite sad thinking that the same dog could of had a nurturing home if it was in the west....or at least be in some dog shelter of some sort...any care would be better than living on the streets...as i reached the corner store the dog was a good 10 meters ahead of me...i had stopped but i continued my visual surveillance...without warning the dog suddenly dashes crazily across the street on to oncoming traffic...the speeding tow truck nearly nips it as it blows by...the timing was immaculate...as if it had done it a million times before and each time had timed it to the tee...it took me a second but it was clear what i was feeling...i felt comfort and relief unaccustomed within this world of inevitabilities....at the very least i knew it was fully capable of taking care of itself....i then made an about face tunneling into the preserved dog meat section of the corner store....don't mind me...i gots jokes...
