In Taiwan! An Update For Everyone!

In my absence from writing on this site, I have actually been working on many things related to the spirit of alivenotdead and on building a new and better website for all of us to play with. I have told Jezs and some others in our community about what I have been working on, but have not really written about this to you all until now.

As Andrew has said, on December 9th, Alive and Cruiser will host a concert in Taipei. This is to be the last time Alive will ever sing together. By now it should be very clear to everyone that follows what we have been doing that we did not form Alive because we wanted to become a successful boyband. Alive the boyband was created simply so that we could create The Heavenly Kings. Now that the movie is complete and released, Alive the boyband no longer exists.

We wanted to put together the December 9th concert for 2 reasons. First, we wanted to give closure to Alive the boyband with a farewell performance. Second, we wanted to create an opportunity to showcase some bands and musicians we respect.

The line up for the show is really pretty good! There will be Chang Zhen Yue, MC Hot Dog, myself, Conroy's new group 24 Herbs (they are pretty dope by the way!), Josie Ho, and Jin, the Chinese American MC that has been doing cool shit for a long time.

This concert is very special to me because it is the very first time that independent rock and hip hop musicians from H.K, Taiwan, and the U.S share a stage and perform together. I personally would love to see much more of this type of collaboration happen, because as a Chinese American living in his hometown Hong Kong, I have discovered that there are many cool musicians and artists here that people back in the States can really relate to.

From the day that we launched alivenotdead.com we wrote in our mission statement that our goal is to create an on-line artistic community. Over the last year or so, I have worked very hard to find the best way to make this happen. We are building the new alivenotdead.com right now, which will feature many of our friends and artists. We hope to create an environment where creative people can have a space to interact with not only each other, but also their fans and people who truly appreciate their craft. Fans who apsire to become an actor, singer, photographer, director, graphic designer, and so forth will also have the chance to interact with our featured artists to ask questions and get insight into their creative processes.

Through the alive project, we have made contact with many fans (some of whom we see quite regularly in H.K). While all of you came to alivenotdead.com to find news and content from alive, through that process, many of you have become friends yourselves. We truly value your support. And I believe the best way to show that we appreciate your support is not just by writing about the way we spend our time, but to use the website to share our true interests, thoughts, and ideals with all of you, so that you really get a sense of what inspires us, and will also perhaps find your own inspiration.

The new alivenotdead.com will have a soft launch sometime in January. We ran into some delays, but the very basic feature set of the new website should be ready by then. We have a team in place the will help us manage the site better, which means the site will finally be updated regularly. When we launch in January, please use the new features and give us your comments so that we can fix any bugs quickly and incorporate your thoughts and ideas into how we continue to build the site.

Alive the boyband is dead. But the 4 of us are still very good friends and when the new website is launched, we will each have our own individual page. Alive the boyband will also have a page, but it will serve mostly as a record of what we have done in the past.

The production company we formed to produce The Heavenly Kings will continue to produce content for the website and for other mediums. Recently we filmed a short film starring Andrew in Tokyo. It's a fun short film that all of you will here more about in the coming months.

Aside from film projects, what I will be working on in the coming months is to develop the new alivenotdead.com, produce content with our production company, and in case you haven't heard, I will be singing again! In the December 9th show, I will be working with Chang Zhen Yue's band, Free Night, on a few songs. To me it is quite an honor that they have invited me to play with them! After December 9th, I will probably do some pub gigs in Taiwan, China, and maybe H.K, working with a great band, and singing for fun. I will let you all know when all that takes place.

I know this is a very long post, but I have a lot to say today. I hope this answers most of all your questions.

我們推出十二月九日這個演出有兩大理由：首先，我們是給Alive來個告別演出，其二，我們也是想給其他我们敬重的樂隊或音樂人一個演出機會。

這次的演出陣容相當不俗！有張震岳、MC Hot Dog、我自己，還有陳子聰的新樂隊「廿四味」（他們都「怪雞」就是了！）。何超和Jin，黃皮白心的MC，他們都已有很長時間的「勁」態。

這次的音樂會，對我來說很特別，因為它可說是首次集港、台、美三地的獨立搖滾和口水歌於一台，我個人很高興能看到更多這種合作形式的出現。因為黃皮白心（香蕉）的華裔美籍能在自己家鄉的香港生存，我更發現有好多從美國回來的人和這些挺酷的音樂人搭得上。

從Alivenotdead.com成立的那一刻開始，我們已經寫在網上說明我們的目的，那是一個網上的藝人組織﹔過去的一年吧，我也寫過我很辛苦地在找更好的方法來建立它。我們現在終於建立了一個新的Alivenotdead.com！它會有更多我們的朋友和藝人的報導。我們希望能塑造出一個空間讓大家能互動而不是單向的。同時，也能讓「粉絲」們都能真情地欣賞到他們的藝術。希望成為藝人、歌手、攝影師、導演、造型設計的「粉絲」們，能和他們互動。跟我們藝人討論問題和作深入的了解。

從Alive這項目，我們可與「粉絲」接觸（有些香港的我們已略有認識）。你們全都可以上Alivenotdead.com來發掘Alive的新料，從這過程中，你們可以認識一些新朋友。我們衷心感謝你們的支持，而表示我們感謝的最好的方法，並不光只是上網寫寫我們的日程，還要跟你們分享我們的興趣、想法和理想。那樣你們才能感受到我們所受的鼓舞和…或許你們也能從而得到激勵。
