The beijing hosted opening for the 2008 olympic games was sensational. It has proved one thing to the world, that china, as a country as vast and historical as it is, under what ever circumstances, when united as one, can generate harmony and energy beyond imagination. So proud to have witnessed such amazing performance, well done director zhang!

Congratulations to china's olympic-record-breaking first gold on woman's weight lifting!  

i did promise myself at the beginning, not to write about current affairs, politics or any of the sort here on AnD, but i felt like its my duty to bring this message across, so pls spare me a few moments: 

I have been listening to the radio during the days in office, trying to get most up to date with the gold medal achievements for china. Then out of no where theres a scornful criticism on the hk media, coming from radio talk show host mr. tao (陶傑),' Regrettably, no one is paying attention to ethnic minorities travelling all the way from remote parts of the world, all their (media) concern is how much gold china gets, this shows our perspective is nothing but simply narrow minded...'

Ouch. i wish i could think of sthg to retaliate, but hes right. over the years, our local commentary on olympic games is just fueled with pride and prejudice, and worst of all, ignorance. henceforth, a general display of unprofessionalism has been tolerated. This year, the local tv broadcasts have received more than 50 complaints and keep on coming. Mostly bcos of ignorance, inappropriate comments, poor delivery of information, or simply random personal opinions. I hope the media can acknowledge this, and stop using slogans like 'We are the olympics'. The players, the association, the live spectators - yes, television - no. Its more like, ' We are delivering you the olympics.'

This year's olympic games again is making history, a lot of world records are broken; but more importantly is that this year has the most number of countries participating, stretching five continents and across the pacific. Countries at war, ie russia and georgia, can put down their hate, fear and compete on equal set of rules, they can rejoyce their achievements together, united or divided, this is my ideal image of harmony. This is huge, to me it is the only thing that separates the modern breed from our ancestors.

I wish i could watch one of those games where countries never heard of participate, learn their stories, and give them support. For similar purposes, china is releasing a movie called 'the one man olympic'. it is about the first chinese to participate in the olympic games, travelling by boat, his adventure all the way from the east to the west.  

The game is coming to an end this week. It has been a great pleasure, for me to see sportsman so proud of their origin and fought like a hero. i would like to congratulate all the participating sportsman, for those who played a fair game, medal or no medal, you are a winner already.

祝賀中國獲得首枚破奧運記錄的女子舉重金牌。  

之前我曾經說過，在AnD不提時事、政治或類似內容，但我覺得寫這些是我的義務，所以請各位暫且饒恕我。

在辦公室的那幾天，我一直在聽廣播，想得到最新的中國獲得金牌的消息。香港媒體突然冒出一個諷刺的評論，電臺脫口秀主持人陶先生(陶傑)說，"可悲，沒人留意從世界遙遠地方遠道而來的少數群體，所有他們(媒體)關心的就是中國得了多少金牌，說明我們是如此鼠目寸光……"

唉，但願我能想出什麽話來回敬他，但他是對的。幾年來，我們對於奧林匹克的評論只會激起傲慢與偏見，更糟的是，無知。今後，普通的非專業內容將不被接受。當地電視、廣播目前已經接到了50多個投訴，而且還在增多。大部分是因為無知、評論不恰當、信息發布不完整或只是純粹講出個人觀點。我希望媒體能夠認識到這一點，停止使用如"我們就是奧運"這樣的口號，各位運動員、各種團體、各位現場觀眾 - 對，還有電視前的 - 都停止使用。而更多的是"我們在向你報導奧運。"

今年的奧運會即將被載入史冊，許多世界紀錄將被打破。但更重要的是，今年參與奧運的國家最多，遍及五大洲、橫跨太平洋。處於戰爭中的國家，如俄羅斯和格魯吉亞，放下他們的仇恨、恐懼，在公平原則下進行體育競技，共同分享體育成績，無論統一或分裂。這就是我理想中的和諧。這是個大工程，對我來說這就是現代人與我們祖先的唯一區別。

我希望能欣賞一場有從未聽說過的國家參與的比賽，了解他們的故事，並給他們支持。出於同樣的目的，中國正在上映一部電影《一個人的奧林匹克》。這部電影講的是首位參加奧運會的中國人，乘坐小船從東方到西方的開拓旅程。奧運會比賽本周就將結束，看運動員們為代表自己的國家而驕傲，像英雄一樣去戰鬥，真是件大快人心的事。我在此祝賀所有參加比賽、進行公平競賽的運動員，無論有沒有拿到金牌，你已經是冠軍。
