Porsche Carrera Cup Asia - Season Finale Preview

The McElrea Racing Team and Yuey Tan are coming to the end of the 2011 season, with the series finale being held in Shanghai this coming weekend. This will be Yuey's 6th visit to the Chinese Formula 1 circuit.

"This is a circuit that was not so good for us over the first few visits in my career. Though I have to say that it has become a lot better for us and I am confident that we are going to show some strong performances in China," commented a optimistic Tan.

The USD $450 million dollar facility was a joint project between the government and private sector. The beautiful racing location was erected in a mere 18 months, including a massive 3000 strong engineering team.Like many other modern Formula 1 circuits, the Shanghai circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke. The circuit contains his trademark track features, being a long back straight followed by a hairpin turn. This particular back straight is a massive 1.175km with the total circuit length covering 5.451km. After a strong drive from Yuey in the Singapore GP, things are on the up for the Singaporean steerer."What we are looking for is a strong finish to a difficult 2011 season," said Yuey. "We have had some great pace this year to put us much further ahead of where we are but a run of racing incidents and mechanical issues have cost us valuable points. It is encouraging however that we do have some serious pace now. We just need to convert this into podium finishes over the 2012 season and I have every confidence this will happen."

"Shanghai is a fantastic circuit and earlier in the year, we had a great setup and good pace so things should be good for the coming weekend. A top 10 finish will be the target."

The season finale of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will be held this weekend on October 21-23 at the Shanghai International Circuit.
