Team News - We need to stay focused on the championship

With the Porsche Carrera Cup season, two thirds of the way through 2010, the championship is heating up for Yuey Tan. After a mistake in qualifying in the Singapore GP, this cost the driver dearly in his championship hopes.

“Singapore turned out to be the worse round for us this year,” admitted Singaporean driver Tan. “We missed race 1 due to damage and had to start in 23rd place for Sunday’s race. It’s great that we finished 14th eventually, picking up nine places and getting valuable points, but it was a bad round for us and I’ll be fighting till the end.” The Singapore race saw Yuey Tan slip 4 positions, from 10th to 14th in the overall standings, and 5th to 7th in the class B standings. Competitive drivers, Darryl O’Young, endurance specialist, Jean Marc Merlin and teammate, Jeffrey Lee, have leapfrogged Tan in the championship.

The impressive fight, with the midpack, in only Tan’s second second in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, has been good for the sport and good for the driver to improve his craft. “It’s a great series,” concluded Tan. “The driving level in PCCA is fantastic, and we all must believe that one day not far away in the distance, some of the newer drivers like me can win.”

Tan will contest the last four rounds of the PCCA in Shanghai and Zhuhai on Oct 24 and Nov 4 respectively.
