Team News - We’ve broken into the top 10 in PCCA Championship!The end of rounds 5 & 6 mark the middle of the season for Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. The halfway mark of the 2010 season also marks the top 10 entry in the overall standings for Singaporean driver, Yuey Tan.“This is a small milestone. The competition is seriously tough in the mid pack of the championship this year as you can see in the small differences in points on the standings. There is a large pack of us that could be finishing anywhere from 8th to 14th, which makes the 2nd half of the PCCA championship a nail biting affair! I’m looking forward to the second half of the season,” Tan said.Currently in the overall standings, Singaporean, Ringo Chong is in 8th place with a total of 39 points, while Jean Marc Merlin has 33 points, and currently lies in 15th place. This is making the midpack a close competition and one which McElrea Racing plans on pushing to maintain in the PCCA Championship. Yuey Tan’s McElrea contender, lies in equal 10th place and drawn on points with Darryl O’Young and Taiwanese teammate, Jeffrey Lee.Team boss, Andy McElrea had interesting insight into how a regular top 10 finish is starting to become more possible and more consistent. He had this to add. “I am rapped with the progress of Tan’s progress this season. Yuey is a little frustrated at the lack of noticeable progress over the last few races. Though I’ve seen it all before as it’s simply a consolidation phase where the driver settles in to driving and racing at this new level.”In any case, it has been a dream run for McElrea Racing number 5 car this year, as we look forward to the next Grand Prix in Singapore. It will be the home race for the squad in their championship.
