I believe a lot of actors would have been asked this question by curious onlookers and also other questions like "How do you do it?" and so forth. Sometimes it's hard to explain what we, actors, really do when asked "What do you do(work/job)?" but to answer "I act/ I am an actor (actress)". I sometimes really do not know what to say anymore when I am further asked "What do you mean you act?" or "What does that mean?". I thought my answer is as obvious as when I say "I am an accountant!" or "I am a doctor!".
A lot of people mistaken actors as pretenders, even some get the opinion/assumptions that actors are great liars. Acting may be misunderstood as trying to act a scenario, a role, a situation, emotions out. We would probably see many actors believe or deliver acting accordingly as well. Have you ever watched a movie/TV drama and you wonder why you do not like what you are watching? You may say to yourself: it's not the background, the scenario, the actor's tears or lines that look fake but you just can't seem to point out why you are not buying what you see. Acting despite its term does not mean to act out. Acting is not about trying to act or look angry, sad, or happy etc in front of the camera/on stage.
Criticizing is probably the easiest thing to do. Pointing out mistakes make one looks knowledgeable and boy, ain't that common? Listing solutions to mistakes often presumed as mastery. That is the biggest trap too many fall into. Have you ever said "You're good! Wow! Why I haven't thouht of that?" to someone after sharing your problems, getting all excited and happy as you thought then that you knew what to do and OFF you go ONLY to find yourself scratching your head afterwards saying to yourself" Hm... all that ideas are great.... BUT HOW do I do it?" Either then it's trial and error or you're given a complicated set of solutions that drains you just as much. Anybody? I have. Elaborating "how" in itself is not enough but showing you "how" all too often require the list-er/show-er/teach-er to go through the process with you, which means he/she will most probably experience what you experience, feel what you feel and so forth. BOY.... AIN'T THAT an act of love? That act of love does not guarantee that the teacher is profecient or good at it. If I can't put it any simpler than this: Jeanne is a darling for her friendly, helpful, compassionate personality. What makes her even a more to-die-for darling is her willingness to work with individuals to develop THEIR own solution to their personalized problems. She does it efficiently, simply and beautifully.
It's easy to be excited and all fired up at the beginning of something new, beginning of an adventure/decision. It's usually exciting and adrenaline helps to boost confidence and mentality up. However, how often is one really satisfied and in peace with oneself " after " it all passed? When one gets all emotional and passionate about the classmates (at the end), it makes saying goodbye a lot more enjoyable too. Yet how does one feel the next morning and in days to come? I never imagined, thought, considered myself a perfectionist but all I know is I am always subsconsciously tense, anxious and worried. I have taken many acting classes, heard different acting methods and advice, also met numerous acting teachers. However, It is safe almost to say that I have never found myself more at ease with myself after any previous acting courses like I do after THE END of Jeanne's 2 days course.
Why take acting course when you do not mean to act? Acting could be like a soul-therapy, it can help you to understand yourself more and help you see a lot that you never thought you have inside you BOTH positive and negative.
Why Jeanne?
I wish I could say that you do NOT have to take her classes but I would hate myself if I do it because then I'd feel so selfish.
To my classmates who have met XiuMi in class on Friday:
Sizes: super mini, mini mini, bigger than mini-mini, mini, normal, big, JUMBO.
XiuMi BB on the right (mini-mini hamster ) with Mimmi her mum ( mini hamster). Xiu Mi's dad is Cus Cus, a super mini hamster.
Mimmi is smaller compared to average hamster. Mimmi comes from Guai Guai (normal sized hamster) and Ching Ling (smaller than a mini). (look at the last pic)
Look at XiuMi BB and the new borns (a week old) who are regular mini hamsters. She's barely few sizes bigger than them. hehe...
Hamsters sizes:
Xuxu my first hamster. Big hamster.
She's a winter white Campbell Dwarf hamster. Supposedly her coat will turn all white during winter if she lives up north where it snows.
BuBu, JUMBO hamster, grey blue campbell dwarf. Died last month due to genetical problems. Happens in hamster whom possess double diluted genes which make that greyish blue colour of his coat.
Guai Guai, normal sized hamster on far right. Ching Ling smaller than mini hamster (2nd). Cus Cus, super mini hamster (1st) is smaller than a mini mini hamster. Btw, the mini hamsters (3rd,4th,6th) were still babies so they look smaller than Ching Ling (2nd). This picture was taken at new year. Only ones alive now are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th in the picture. First and Last died this year. Double diluted hamsters have a lot problem with their health due to double diluted genes. Xu Xu (5th) died from drug overdose.
Come with me on a journey of self discovery! Wanna know a hamster who talks with an attitude? Meet one on Xuxu's site: http://www.alivenotdead.com/Y3XuXu
