I have another Shanghai blog or two to go, but let me jump in with a 'hot off the presses' blog from earlier tonight...
I had the chance to go to see Justin Lo's 'Air Justin 08' Concert at Hong Kong's Star Hall. It was pretty fancy, check out these set pieces:
not quite as fancy as Hamasaki Ayumi's concert, but definitely the fanciest concert I've seen at Star Hall. Justin is doing 7 shows over 7 nights (before going on to Guangzhou and Malaysia).
I've never seen or heard Justin's concerts before, he is actually a good live singer:
Unfortunately for me, he did a lot of slow romantic cantonese ballads... not my favorite at all, but he did have some rockin' out tunes too...
...with a little help from the band:
oh snap, thats Jun Kung on the drums! Quite good!
Speaking of special guests, there was another one who made her appearence by video screen:
ooh la la, who is that leggy beauty? Took me a second to realize its Race Wong!
A giantess! She's like 7' tall! :-D
( click here to read her blog about filming this video sequence).
Towards the end of the show Justin had a guest singer come out and do a duet and a solo song. I couldn't tell what his name was, or even really hear him sing, because of these annoying teenage super-fans next to me... they apparently came just for the guest guy (cause they left as soon as he finished). They had the light up signs... blindingly bright:
thats not distracting at all! :-P
the problem was that they sang along with him at the top of their lungs... luckily i wasn't sitting in front of them, otherwise I would have had to turn around and yell at them to STFU...
Anyway, Justin closed out with '男人' ( click for video):
which i recognized from youtube cause its the one where he sings about Jacky Cheung and Eason... (and keeps switching back and forth between mandarin and cantonese...)
Good job Justin! Good concert!
