I'm still recovering from last night's John Legend concert in Macau (actually recovering from the after party...), but I figured I'd hurry to get the first part of my blog coverage up ASAP. I'll split this into two blogs, this one for the concert, and the 2nd one for the AFTER PARTY... (stay tuned tomorrow!)
We had a huge group... two buses worth for the concert and another half came after the concert.
There was a big scrum of photographers out front.... it didn't make it easy for me to find people who I had to pass out tickets to. Sorry I was so distracted... no good pictures here. ( Eugene Yau has posted a bunch already).
I missed the opening of the show cause I ran out to get some food when they finally started. But I took a few photos:
the view was OK, but I wish I had brought my other camera w/ the better zoom.
But either way the view was not anything approaching when I saw him in HK in September 2008.
I lucked out, I ended up sitting next to these two beautiful ladies:
Yes, as a matter of fact, that is Kara Grefe! ;-)
the stage was pretty no frills, just some lighting, smoke machines, etc. But thats all you need for this kind of show.
They had a full band w/ a brass section on the right and back-up singers on the left. But I realized that the band was almost a distraction, drowning out John Legend's voice and piano. I preferred it when he did solos on the piano or with minimal backing from the band.
John spent most of the time behind the piano. But he did get up a few times to sing.
He worked up a good sweat for sure.
I took some video at the show -
