As you obviously saw in his blog and several others (), Andrew did a pretty cool art performance event at Racks Shanghai with another artist named Li Zan. They both did separate paintings simultaneously in front of an audience.... it was an interesting spin on the idea.先週末はイベントために上海へ行った、アンドュー君のラブ芸術イベントだった。面白かった。僕の写真を見て下さい!
When we arrived at Racks there were reporters and photographers crowding around the entrance:
by the way, the event was sponsored by an Absinthe brand that recently started shipping to China. In case you didn't know, Absinthe is also known as 'The Green Fairy' because it apparently makes you hallucinate... hence the outfits (Which you will be seeing a bit more of).
this was my first time at racks shanghai in the evening... i came in the daytime once about 6 months ago... its quite large!
To keep people entertained before the show started... the Green Fairy came out for a dance.
They each had a canvas, which they prepared a background on (since watching someone paint a bckground is not very entertaining).
One problem with these types of events is that they actually take quite a while and aside from the start and finish, aren't /that/ action packed...
To keep people's attention going, the Green Fairy dancer came back out
Li Zan and Andrew's styles are quite different, which made comparison hard.
At the end when they pretty much finished, they did a bit extra to connect the two paintings. It was cool to see the two of them switching off and embellishing the other's work.
Finally done!
oh yeah, this guy on the right showed up half-way through and jumped into a few pictures...
now time to celebrate!
more from Shanghai coming soon!
