Food of Champions! – Tuesdays Update (plus A Team Wushu School in the Making)

Done with Team Trials! I can now eat like a pig for this week (and probably next week!) Right after my competition ended I began my binge junk food eating streak. Let’s see.. how did it begin?

After the competition I was mad craving curry house so we all went and got some delicious curry. At night we went to BJs for some beers/tequila shots/and Tokyo Tea. O_O After that we went to Rumors for soju and more booze. I drank, but was actually so tired from competition that it inhibited my drinking/partying ability. I guess that was a good thing.

The next day was when my true junk food binging began. Dennis Ta, William, Sarah, and I began our road trip back to sunny LA. On the road trip back I had a Choco Taco ice cream, cheetos, a nasty quickie mart self blended cookies n cream shake, some cookies, and a sub.

When we got back to LA we went to In & Out because Sarah has never been to one. I ordered animal style fries and a burger.

At work the next day (Tuesday) I went to Johnny Rockets and got me some fries and a fatty Route 66 burger. Then at night Dennis Ta, Dennis Chen, Sarah, Ngan, and I went to eat at The Boiling Crab in Garden Grove. We had a couple Coronas and pounds and pounds of shrimp and crawfish (what I called the dirt of the sea or cockroaches of the sea) but it was delicious. Haha.. my stomach was so jacked up because lately Ive been eating chicken, rice, and steamed vegetables or a turkey and avocado sandwhich on wheat bread.

Wushu

After we ate a million super spicy crawfish we went over to SCWA and I jokingly started teaching Dennis Ta my straightsword form.. but surprisingly I think it works with his body type. He can probably bust out a mean straight sword form in a few months if he tried. I also felt like passing out after walking through a section. haha.

I taught Sarah and Ngan how to part the wild horse’s mane in Tai Chi. Pretty soon I will come out with an expert village clip of How to Learn Tai Chi in 24 Hours . Maybe someone can sponsor this idea and help me make it happen =P

We had a cool idea to open a wushu school in Irvine. I like the idea actually. Apparently Ngan, Sarah, and Dennis found a For Lease location by an 85 degrees (boba shop). We could rent it out during the morning to tai chi, yogo, and dance classes and then teach wushu at night. We could demo at downtown disney and by irvine spectrum and see if UCI students would come train. I know where to get cheap carpet or also Woody might still have his wushu carpet that he doesnt use since Wushu Star closed down. For coaches we would consider asking Wang Wei, Fu Bi De, or Cao Yue. I heard from Emilio that Wang Wei put honey all over his body to attract bees.. so maybe we would just stick to Fu Bi De or Cao Yue. Everyone liked the idea. I said I would be in… but only if we bought the land. LOL any investors? We got 4 former/current US A Team members down to get this going. We could call the school A Team Wushu or International Wushu Academy.

I like Ngans mentality- she said the school would be more of a past time than a means to making money and it would be rewarding to promote and teach people. I think this attitude is great and would be the right kind of mentality to make a school succeed. Obviously, you should recognize it is still a business and not to have high overhead or below market rates, etc.. but overall I think in the long run people can sense when a martial arts school just cares about money and not the wushu of the students. When people sense you care more for the sport and growth- then the community and students give back in other ways besides just in tuition.

Anyways, haha I turned a half joke into a full on business proposition in my head… I just like to think things through and see in my head how it would all work.

Other Business / Projects

Just got back on the map with my 5 other projects. Got home and sent out a few follow up emails letting people know I was back in LA and asking to see the status of a few things. Sent out my final approved tea label design and now its going to the proof maker. I will be getting a digital proof and once I approve I will get my first sample.

Everything else is in a pending mode on the other side which is good for me. As I wait for things to come back I’ll just enjoy my week and continue binging. =)

Miss S! I love your idea. I would love to be the idea planner and then have someone work out following my blueprints to success. It sounds like it could be some sort of legitimate consulting job.. but I think first I have to prove that I'm successful and worth following.. but then the catch is.. once im at that point, I wouldnt need a "job" consulting people on businesses.. id probably be starting more of my own and then having partners/co-founders run the biz
