Why do people call me Coyote?

The story is pretty simple actually...

One day in LA I go to wushu practice and theres a new coach. We warm up. We start doing basic kicks. He demos some jump kicks and he jumps super high and is super fast - naturally.. because he is from the Beijing Wushu Team and his name is Qiu Dong Xing or as most call him.. DX.

Into the practice he says "guo lai... ni jiao shen me ming zi? (come over here.. whats your name?)"  and I tell him.. "its Alfred" .. he slightly tilts his head and repeats it a few times..

anyways he asked me my name a few times and towards the end of practice .. he's like.. "come here.. what do you like better (as a nickname) WOLF? or Coyote??"

I think about it.. and say "Um.. I guess Wolf? Because a wolf sounds pretty strong and pretty cool"

DX says with a big grin.. "okay, lets call you Coyote! .. It's easier to pronounce"

In my head... "what the..!"

After this practice.. and a time at a Berkeley CMAT after party where I called him "Dragon Xing" and he confirmed that I would still be Coyote after me disputing with him as to why I was a Coyote.. I guess a few people within the wushu community henceforth knew me as Coyote!

Now yall know.
