This past weekend, Carl's Jr hosted an event with Bang & Olufsen to introduce their new 100% Black Angus beef hamburger. It's probably not a big deal to all of you still living back in the States, but the sight of the Famous Star almost five years ago here in Singapore was literally mouthwatering. I was on lunch break from shooting a Chinese television drama serial with Michelle Chong and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the outlet in Marina Square. Sure enough, I went straight to order a Double Western Bacon cheesburger meal deal and even made Michelle order something from Carl's Jr too. I know she probably wasn't as psyched about the grub as much as me, but at least she was kind enough to give me face and shove a burger in hers! Enough of the nasty McDonald's and Burger King's, I've been a huge fan of Carl's Jr since junior high, and I used to put down three and sometimes four Western Bacon cheeseburgers in one sitting. It's been great to see them expanding out here to Southeast Asia, and I'm still impressed that the management remembers me being one of their many loyal patrons since expanding here to Singapore. With outlets already in Singapore and Malaysia, the management also announced plans to expand into China so watch out for your own Carl's Jr out there too!
The night was a really formal event where everyone really got dressed up to take a bite outta the new Black Angus beef hamburger. I think the organizers really wanted to slick out the entire event. With all the ladies looking stunning, I had a great time being the thorn amongst the roses...
Irene Ang had just returned from shooting a new season of Phua Chu Kang for the Malaysia market. Apparently, this is a Malaysia productions so the Singapore audience won't have a chance to see the new episodes unless you happen to be in Malaysia.
Li Lin's still in the midst of wrapping up her new show called Unexpected Access. I wonder what she was checking out in this shot with Rebecca Tan and our fellow AnD manager Ling... Of course, this night was more than about the #4 American fast food restaurant chain (behind McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's) and high end Danish electronic products, it also marked Edison Chen's first public appearance back in Asia here in Singapore...
Along with the big wigs at Carl's Jr and Irene Ang, Edison Chen's arrival was met with a mad rush of reporters and paparrazi from Singapore, Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia.
Overall, the launch event seemed to be a huge success. With one of Carl's Jr's taglines being It's Gonna Get Messy, the B&O showroom seemed to stay remarkably clean with all of us wolfing down the new burgers!!
