Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend my very first men's underwear fashion show for the Singapore Fashion Festival. Sure, I think we're all accustomed to seeing women's lingerie and undergarment shows so this was something novel for many people. There was a lot of hype surrounding this show too, especially since super male model Marcus Schenkemberg was flown into town to highlight the show.
Sawaka, one of the contestants from the second season of The Amazing Race Asia, was in town visiting so I invited her to check out this "meat parade." After we arrived at the big white tent in front of Ngee Ann City, I enjoyed catching up with other artists like Patricia Mok, Chen Han Wei, Ericia Lee, and Ix Shen....
...Pierre Png, Andrea De Cruz, and Utt also dressed up for the show. Once everyone was seated and settled, the lights were off and the procession commenced. It started out rather conservative with the standard suit "look"...minus the slacks.
Some dudes really whipped out their best "Magnum" look for the audience.
Then, of course, the workout theme came around...
But just when we all thought this was a pretty standard show, it started to really get weird...
...we all feasted on skinny models who's wrestling costumes seemed to be pulled out from the movie " Nacho Libre" with Jack Black.
...and you know there's gotta be at least one faux-fur Pimp Daddy jacket too!
Near the end of the show, I was really amused with the intriguing sight of the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) theme--essentially only the hood and noose (and underwear)...
...and just before I could really go "Huh??", Marcus made his solo stroll down the catwalk once again.
At this point, I'd like to thank the organizers for inviting me to this memorable experience cuz this show was a lot more "interesting" than I imagined. Also, major props goes out to all those male models cuz doing a show like this requires a lot of work actually...from limiting caloric intake to pumping out a ton of push-ups and sit-ups backstage right before it's their turn to strut their "wears" in the meat parade! And Trust Me...I was there a long time ago so I know how they feel!
In summary, after viewing the men's underwear show in all (or almost all) of its "glory," I can see why it's the talk of the town! Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
