Thinking of a time when I got to visit my arts idol's home in Mexico a few weeks ago before my dreadful surgery. Frida Kahlo was the first artist whose work I intricately studied in detail. It was an honor to show up at her home, which she lovingly called "the blue house" and meditate in her studio for a bit. Later that day, I had a painful ache in my abdomen, so strong, I could barely walk. I made it back to the states, thinking I had caught yet another travel stomach virus. The next morning I had my surgery. It's strange, but in a way it made me think of Frida and all her physical pains.
