We had the pleasure of watching Sam Hui and Alan Tam’s concert last night. For the younger audiences, they might be foreign names to you. Mandarin music dominated the Chinese music scene until Sam Hui came along, the rest is history. Watching both godfathers of Cantopop music dish out classic Cantonese tunes took me on a time tunnel back to when I was residing in HK. And when I saw Ryan’s performance on stage with his guitar, it occured to me that we’ve been friends for years and yet I’ve never seen him perform. A reminder of the many talented friends that surrounded me in HK. Music has the ability to organise our memories into pockets of time where forgotten people and places flash by like sceneries in a fast moving train. @thestayup #samntam
